From 1999 to 2007 I co-created and co-organized a variety of conferences, workshops and other gatherings under the IshCon name to explore topics such as systems thinking, fossil fuel usage and related environmental concerns, food production and population growth, and strategies for organizing and developing resilient communities. The events were attended by people from around the Midwestern United States, and in some cases were then replicated in other regions. My role included general community building, conference agenda and format development, sales and marketing, developing tools and systems for managing participant registration and related finances, session facilitation, moderation of a related online community, and researching and publishing other resources of use to participants.
